Nestled in the picturesque village of Thorp Arch, The Pax is a charming pub that caters to the palates of locals and visitors alike.
With its convenient location near Boston Spa and Wetherby, this delightful establishment offers a relaxing atmosphere, delectable food, and a wide range of beverages. Recently taken over by Dane, the friendly and welcoming owner, The Pax has exciting plans in store for its patrons.
As we stepped into The Pax, Dane greeted us warmly and escorted us to our table. Taking a moment to unwind, we perused the menu, which presented an array of tantalizing options. For starters, John opted for the halloumi bites, a crispy delight served with a delightful, sweet chili dip sauce (£6.95). I, on the other hand, chose the cheese and bacon potato skins, which were generously filled with a mouthwatering combination of cheesy potato and bacon, served with sour cream and chives (£4.95).
Moving on to the mains, John savoured the triple ground beef patty, accompanied by habanero and mango mayo coleslaw, American cheese, all encased within a toasted brioche bun, accompanied by a serving of chips (£13.50). My taste buds were enticed by the Carolina BBQ option - a ground patty adorned with blue cheese, mustard, BBQ sauce, and pickled onions, also nestled within a toasted brioche bun, accompanied by a serving of chips (£13.50).
To complement our mains, we indulged in two delightful side dishes. The dirty fries, tossed in truffle oil and generously topped with Parmesan (£5.50), offered a tantalizing twist on a classic favourite. Meanwhile, the Go Greek fries, loaded with flavourful ground beef, burger sauce, lettuce, dill pickles, and crispy onions (£5.50), transported our taste buds to the Mediterranean.
Although our appetites were satiated, we couldn’t help but notice the variety of mouthwatering dessert options available at The Pax. For those with room to indulge, the pub offers a tempting selection of sweet treats. Moreover, The Pax boasts a spacious beer garden, perfect for enjoying warmer nights, and it is set to undergo refurbishment in the future. Additionally, there is a large open room at the back of the pub, complete with a pool table, providing entertainment for patrons.
Operating seven days a week, The Pax ensures that patrons can enjoy their offerings at any time. From Monday to Saturday, food service is available from 12pm to 9pm, while on Sundays, they serve a delectable roast from noon to 6.30pm. The friendly staff, known for their warm hospitality, includes Dane’s talented brother among the skilled chefs. Although The Pax specializes in burgers, they also offer a diverse selection of other mouthwatering dishes to cater to different tastes and preferences.
Over all, The Pax in Thorp Arch is a hidden gem that offers a delightful dining experience. With its serene ambiance, scrumptious food, and welcoming staff, it is undoubtedly a place worth visiting for anyone seeking a memorable meal in a cosy pub setting.
