On a warm and sunny Sunday, the perfect time to indulge in something special, we ventured to Sukhothai in Leeds to sample their newly introduced Sunday lunch buffet.
Renowned for its authentic Thai cuisine, Sukhothai has long been a favourite among locals and visitors alike. With its inviting atmosphere and reputation for excellence, we were eager to see what their buffet had to offer.
Upon arrival, we decided to start our culinary journey with a couple of their enticing Thai cocktails. I opted for the Raevadee Nonppamat (£13), a beautifully crafted drink with a delicate balance of sweet and tangy flavours, a perfect refresher for the sunny afternoon. Jamie, on the other hand, chose the Emerald Smile (£11), a vibrant and refreshing cocktail that lived up to its name, leaving a smile on his face with every sip.
Sukhothai’s Sunday lunch buffet is an ever-changing feast, offering a selection of eight main dishes, with three dedicated vegetarian options, ensuring that there’s something for everyone. Priced at £24.99 per person, the buffet runs from 12.30 to 4.30pm, giving ample time to savour the various dishes on offer. For those who prefer to order à la carte, the full menu remains available, providing a wide range of choices.
The buffet began with an array of starters, each bursting with flavours and authenticity. From crispy appetisers to aromatic soups, every bite was a testament to the skill and dedication of the chefs. The starters set the tone for what was to come, showcasing a harmonious blend of spices and fresh ingredients.
As we moved on to the main courses, we were delighted by the variety and quality of the dishes. The buffet offered a rich tapestry of flavours, with dishes that highlighted the diverse and vibrant nature of Thai cuisine. Each dish was carefully prepared, balancing bold flavours with subtle nuances, making every bite a memorable experience.
The vegetarian options were equally impressive, offering a delightful mix of textures and flavours. The creativity and attention to detail in these dishes ensured that they were not just an afterthought but a central part of the culinary experience. Each vegetarian dish was hearty and satisfying, proving that meatless options can be just as indulgent.
As we lingered over our final courses, we couldn’t resist sampling some of the desserts. The dessert offerings were the perfect end to our meal, with each option providing a sweet and satisfying coda to our Thai feast.
If you’re in Leeds on a sunny Sunday, treat yourself to the delightful experience at Sukhothai - you won’t be disappointed. The combination of authentic Thai dishes, excellent service and a vibrant atmosphere makes it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a memorable meal.
