Pudding Lab is a great addition to the vibrant village of Boston Spa, which has very recently been crowned the most popular village in the whole of Yorkshire! So, unsurprisingly we were excited to visit this enticing, new patisserie.

Pudding Lab opened its doors in August 2021 and has been thriving ever since. Going by its name’s sake, it does indeed offer the most fantastic puddings. However, this is not all it serves, you can pop in for your breakfast, brunch, lunch or afternoon tea. There really is something for everyone. John and I were visiting for lunch; a real treat as it was only a Tuesday. We were greeted by the owners, Ashley and Kian and the rest of the welcoming staff. Once seated, I just couldn’t take my eyes off the fabulous offerings awaiting us. As we were having lunch, we decided upon the spicey nduja croissant filled with salami and cheese, and a New York slab freshly made on baked focaccia bread, which is baked fresh on the premises each morning. We shared of course and weren’t disappointed, both were full of flavour, and the focaccia bread was a big hit with me.
Taking a breather, we washed this down with a good cup of tea. If tea is not your thing, there are many more beverages to choose from. A wide selection of coffee and hot chocolate along with a chilled selection, the list was extensive.
I have got such a sweet tooth, so desserts are always something I look forward to. We awaited our puddings with excited anticipation. The short wait was more than worth it, a fabulous assortment arrived all looking delicious. This consisted of a lemon tart, a plum pistachio frangipane tart, a chocolate and hazelnut eclair, and a blackberry and chocolate dome with a crumb biscuit base. They were all so scrummy that I really couldn’t say which was my favourite, although if absolutely pushed it would have to be the lemon tart. That’s not all though, the sweets and pudding selection seemed endless with so much to choose from, including macaroons, cheesecakes and chocolates to name but a few.
People watching is always a favourite pastime for John and I. This quaint and busy patisserie offers an ideal spot to sit watch the world go by. We’d highly recommend a visit. Unfortunately for us it was time to leave, lunch break was over, and it was back to the day job!
Ashley informed us that there’s always new additions to the menu. So, it’s doubtful we will get bored of popping in here any time soon. Lastly, we want to wish all the Pudding Lab team the best of look in your new venture.
